Taiwan’s Walsin Lihwa increases June stainless steel wire rod prices

Walsin Lihwa, a stainless steel wire rod and cable manufacturer in Taiwan, raised its June domestic pricing, delivering its seventh consecutive monthly price hike.

The producer increased 300-series wire rod prices by NT$3,000 per ton, surpassing Yieh United Steel Corp. (Yusco)’s NT$2,000 hike on hot-rolled and cold-rolled coils. Additionally, 316-series products rose by NT$7,000 to NT$9,000 per ton based on molybdenum content, 200-series and 400-series prices remained flat.

High global energy costs continue to drive up key raw material prices, including molybdenum, copper, and steel scrap. Furthermore, Indonesia’s decision to place strategic resources under state-owned enterprise management provides strong support for nickel prices.

Walsin Lihwa implemented these adjustments to cover mounting expenditure, noting that these combined factors keep overall production cost pressures exceptionally high.
