Taiwan’s stainless steel import & export prices reach new highs in July

Taiwanese customs data showed that stainless steel import volumes fell below 100,000 tons in July, totaling about 95,600 tons, yet import prices climbed to above NT$68,800, reaching a multi-year high.

Concurrently, export volumes reached roughly 70,800 tons with export values jumping to about NT$89,400, achieving a two-and-a-half-year high.

Although import volumes in July decreased by 20.7% from June and export quantities rose by 3.9% month on month, import prices remained significantly lower than export prices, and import volumes continued exceeding export levels. This disparity indicated that low-priced foreign material intrusions continue as a severe market challenge for domestic industries.
