China imported 17,000 tons of refined nickel in August, dropping by 18.9% month on month and by 29.8% year on year, bringing total January-to-August imports to roughly 187,000 tons, up by 19.9% from the same period a year ago.
During the eight-month period, chrome ore imports rose by 36.2% to 19.02 million tons, whereas ferrochrome imports fell by 39.2% to 1.12 million tons. At the same time, manganese ore imports climbed by 12% to 23.14 million tons, stainless steel scrap imports surged by 84.9% to 130,900 tons, and molybdenum ore imports rose by 57.2% to 73,000 tons.
