The Special Economic Zone at Duqm (SEZAD) is currently studying three proposed aluminum projects. Leading these initiatives is the Green Aluminium Project, an OMR 2.4 billion investment designed to produce 530,000 tons of green aluminum ingots and 620,000 tons of aluminum billets and pre-cast slabs per year. This facility intends to utilize low-carbon technologies and green hydrogen starting around 2030.
Two additional ventures, the Geely Green Aluminium Project and the Pearl Green Iron and Aluminium Project, are also in the planning stages through partnerships with regional investors.
These projects meet Oman’s strategy to develop a green industrial ecosystem. By leveraging local renewable energy sources, Oman aims to prioritize the production of low-carbon metals within its economic zones.
