Nucor hikes hot-rolled coil prices amid tight US supply

Nucor Corporation, the largest steel producer in the US, increased its weekly consumer spot price (CSP) for hot-rolled coil (HRC) by US$10 per short ton to US$1,240 per short ton on October 12, 2026.

Simultaneously, California Steel Industries (CSI), Nucor’s West Coast joint venture, raised its HRC quote by US$15 per short ton to US$1,305 per short ton.

Both companies maintain upward price trajectories, with Nucor recording steady increases since mid-September and CSI demonstrating pronounced West Coast price growth. Tight domestic HRC supply continues across the US, as Section 232 tariffs and extended logistics lead times raise import resource costs and delay market arrivals.
