Indonesia’s PT Krakatau Steel Tbk targets a stainless steel slab production capacity of 1.2 million tons per year through a new nickel processing initiative presented at the Danantara Technology Innovation Investment Forum 2026.
Infrastructure and Operations Director Sidik Darusulistyo estimated project investment at US$350 million, with projected annual revenues exceeding US$2 billion.
The project expands domestic mineral processing into high-value manufacturing materials.
Krakatau Steel previously signed a memorandum of understanding with Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) in July 2026 to explore a joint venture facility. Additionally, Krakatau Steel formed an advanced materials partnership with MIND ID, Defend ID, and PT Perusahaan Mineral Nasional (Perminas) to strengthen industrial supply chains.
