Australian mineral exploration and development company Impact Minerals has reported a net loss after tax of AUD 4.89 million (USD 3.42 million) for the financial year ended June 30, 2026, compared with AUD 9.02 million (USD 6.31 million) in the previous year, as it advances its strategic transition towards high-purity alumina (HPA) production using its Western Australian salt lake resources.
The company’s FY2026 Annual Report outlines a major shift in its business direction, with HPA development taking centre stage as Impact seeks to establish a position in the supply chains serving electric vehicle batteries, semiconductors, LED lighting and other advanced technology applications.
Impact Minerals holds an 80 per cent interest in the Lake Hope HPA project in Western Australia and a 50 per cent interest in Alluminous, a separate HPA development venture. Both form part of its strategy to advance towards commercial production, although they remain at different stages of development.
The company said its financial performance reflected a year of project development, metallurgical testing and corporate restructuring as it worked to focus its operations on HPA.
The Lake Hope project is central to Impact Minerals’ plans to develop a high-purity alumina business based on its Western Australian salt lake resources.
Its pre-feasibility study reported a post-tax net present value (NPV10) of AUD 1.165 billion (USD 814.35 million) and a post-tax internal rate of return (IRR) of 47 per cent. The study outlined a proposed annual production capacity of 10,000 tonnes of HPA over a projected 33-year mine life, with estimated pre-production capital expenditure of AUD 259 million (USD 181.04 million).
Development activity has since advanced. In an October 26, 2026 update, Impact Minerals said the Lake Hope pilot plant design had been completed, equipment purchased and construction commenced. The pilot programme is intended to support further development and technical evaluation of the project.
