Egypt could secure up to $2 billion in Chinese investment for its aluminium sector, driven by production disruptions in the Gulf linked to the Middle East war.
Chinese industrial group Henan Zhongfu is in talks with Egypt’s government to build a new factory in the Suez Canal Economic Zone. The proposed plant, discussed with Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, would be located in East Port Said and cover one square kilometre. It will produce aluminium sheets, battery components, and materials for aviation, railway, and automotive sectors, creating approximately 3,000 jobs.
The project represents the latest in a stream of Chinese manufacturing investment in Egypt, which has already seen billions poured into various industries.
