Canada to the world: Q1’26 aluminium export declines by 20%

The unwrought aluminium export graph of Canada to the world follows a significant year-on-year declining streak. The cumulative exports in the first quarter (Q1) of 2026 amounted to 579,279.8 tonnes, valued at USD 1.95 billion.

Comparing quarterly volumes, the Q1 2026 export figure reflects a Y-o-Y decline of 19.7 per cent from 721,400.36 tonnes shipped in Q1 2025.

Again, the Q1 2025 volume slipped from that of Q1 2024, which totalled 779,517.6 tonnes. The difference reflected is of 7.46 per cent.

As we look at the unwrought aluminium shipment value, the amount earned by Canada in Q1 2026 has slipped from USD 2.27 billion earned in Q1 2025, marking a drop of 14.07 per cent.

However, contrary to the volume trend, the Q1 2025 export value has reported an increase of 10.49 per cent over the export value of USD 2.05 billion secured in Q1 2024.
