According to the Argentine Steel Chamber, the country’s crude steel production rose by 9% month-on-month and 15.3% year-on-year in July, driven by demand from key sectors such as energy, mining, and agricultural machinery.
High-impact sectors such as construction, the automotive industry, and home appliances continue to experience negative growth, accumulating declines in their activity levels. Adding to this situation is the increasing pressure from low-priced imported products driven by Asian overcapacity, especially from China.
Faced with this scenario, local producers are demanding trade protection measures to mitigate this impact on the domestic market.
