POSCO collaborates with Franke for eco-friendly stainless steel sinks

South Korea’s steel manufacturer POSCO announced on July 4 its collaboration with Franke, Europe’s largest system kitchen company, to introduce premium stainless steel sinks made with eco-friendly materials.

The new product is made of stainless steel developed by POSCO, aligning with global carbon reduction efforts. POSCO utilized more than 90% scrap metal in production and lowered carbon emissions by incorporating renewable energy such as solar power at its steel mills. German certification body TÜV SÜD verified the product’s environmental claims from its early development.

This cooperation allows Franke to expand its product range with reduced carbon footprints. POSCO aims for carbon neutrality by 2050, pursuing strategies including hydrogen reduction steel technology and electric furnace adoption.
