The European Commission (EC) decided to impose provisional anti-dumping (AD) duties on hot-rolled coils imported from Egypt, Japan, and Vietnam, effective April 7 and lasting for six months.
The EC will impose AD duties of 12.8% and 31.8% on imports from Egypt and Japan, respectively. Vietnamese steel mills will face a duty of 12.1%, while Hoa Phat Dung Quat received zero.
Some market participants stated that the European steel mills still have substantial orders for the second quarter. Domestic steel mills are likely to adjust their prices upward due to safeguard and AD measures restricting import volumes.
