Vale warns Alegria mine stoppage to result in loss of 10 million tons
Hundreds of people have died as a result of the collapse of the tailings dam in Vale, and Vale now ceases operations in the Alegria iron mine in Minas Gerais, Brazil. Brazil's Vale has warned that this could result in a loss of 10 million tons per year.

Since it is not yet possible to determine the stability of this mine, preventive shutdowns are still maintained. After a series of investigations at the mine, once the stability of the mine is determined, the Alegria iron ore will be restarted.
