Usiminas postpones its plan for blast furnace maintenance
Usinas Siderúrgicas de Minas Gerais S.A. (Usiminas), one of the largest steelmakers in Brazil, announced that it would postpone the maintenance of its blast furnace No.3 at its Ipatinga mill in Minas Gerais, Brazil.

The company had previously expected that the maintenance work would begin in the middle of 2021. If the blast furnace maintenance plan was postponed for one year, it meant that the blast furnace would maintain normal operation until 2022.

According to a report in May this year, Usiminas originally planned to spend R$1.23 billion to refurbish the No.3 blast furnace in the Ipatinga mill and purchased new equipment and services.

The company did not specify the reasons for the postponement of the blast furnace maintenance.
