US steel import permits rise by 5.3% in Oct
According to the report published by the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI), the US steel import permits applications rose by 5.3% in October.

Based on the latest Steel Import Monitoring and Analysis (SIMA) data by the Department of Commerce, the import permits jumped by 5.3% month on month from 2.8 million net tons in September 2018 to 3 million net tons in October 2018.

In the first 10 months, US steel imports totaled around 29.2 million net tons, and finished steel accounted for 22.1 million net tons.

South Korea had the largest number of steel import license applications in October, followed by Germany and Japan. In addition, the three countries mentioned above became the top three suppliers in the first 10 months of 2018.
