US’ line pipe imports increase in Dec 2018
According to the preliminary Census Bureau data from the US Department of Commerce (USDOC), the US imported around 184,000 tons of line pipe in December 2018, up by 12.1% compared to the previous month, also rising by 50.9% from the same month a year ago. The import value was approximately US$217 million, which had a month-on-month and year-on-year hike. 

Among them, the imports from Canada accounted for the largest proportion, totaling around 43,000 tons, increasing from 28,000 tons in the previous month and 14,000 tons in December 2017. In addition, the major import source included Turkey, the UK, Mexico, Greece and Germany. 

In 2018, the import volume of US’ line pipe amounted to 1.98 million tons roughly, a year-on-year drop of 1.6%.
