US-China trade war affects Japan's Q2 wire rod exports
Demand for wire rod in the Asian automotive industry has been strong, and demand was also rising along with the construction industry.
However, since China has been affected by the US' Section 232, now it has been withdrawn from the US market and gradually put its target on the Asian market. Therefore, some customers have requested price cuts. Besides, Japanese steel mills have just completed negotiations for wire rod shipments in the second quarter.
The price adjustments have been finished according to different regions. However, with the increase in domestic car purchase prices, the prices of auto parts and wire rod have also increased, and the contract price was basically as same as that in the previous quarter.
