US’ alumina imports slide, exports rise in Q3
According to statistics from the US Geological Survey, the US imported around 312,000 tons of alumina in the third quarter of this year, sliding by 13.57% compared to the previous quarter.
Among them, the imports from Brazil accounted for the largest proportion, totaling around 229,000 tons, a quarter-on-quarter increase of 16.24%; followed by Jamaica with roughly 38,000 tons, a quarter-on-quarter hike of 46.33%.
In terms of exports, the US’ alumina export volume reached approximately 38,000 tons in the third quarter, up by 5.01% compared to last quarter.
Among them, Mexico was the main destination, with 16,500 tons, rising by 20.4% quarter on quarter; followed by Canada with roughly 5,100 tons, hiking by 7.63% quarter on quarter.
In the first three quarters of this year, the US’ alumina imports were 1.03 million tons, and the exports totaled 112,000 tons.
