Turkish steel production & consumption increase in H1 2018
According to the data from Turkish Iron and Steel Producers' Association (TCUD), the production of Turkish finished steel products totaled around 21 million tons in the first half this year, up by 9% compared to the same period a year ago. Among them, the production of long products was around 13 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 0.6%; that of steel plate was around 8 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 25.8%.
In the same period, the consumption of Turkish finished steel products amounted to around 18 million tons, hiking by 11.5% from the same period a year earlier. Among them, the consumption of long products was around 8 million tons, a year-on-year rise of 4.6%; that of steel plate was around 10 million tons, a year-on-year rise of 18.3%.
