Turkish steel exports decrease while imports grow in H1 2018 y-o-y
According to the data from Turkish Iron and Steel Producers' Association (TCUD), the exports of steel in Turkey totaled around 10 million tons in the first half this year, down by 1.8% compared to the same period a year ago; those of long products totaled around 5 million tons, down by 4.1% compared to the same period a year earlier; those of steel plate totaled around 3 million tons, up by 14.1% from the same period last year; those of semi-finished steel products totaled around 220,000 tons, down by 59.3% from the same period of the previous year.

As for the imports, the imports of steel in Turkey were around 9 million tons in the same period, a year-on-year increase of 14.7%; those of steel plate were around 4.3 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 4.6%; those of long products were around 760,000 tons, a year-on-year increase of 12.2%; those of semi-finished steel products were around 3 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 37%.
