Tsinghan's 4 production lines in Weda Bay Nickel Project starts production
Despite the challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic, the Weda Bay Nickel Project, a joint venture established in Indonesia by China’s stainless steel giant Tsinghan, French multi-metal miner Eramet, and regional miner PT Antam, was still proceeding as planned.

Following the commissioning of the electric furnace No. 1 at the end of April, the remaining three production lines have also been added to production at beginning of May, and the first phase of the project has been fully commissioned.

After normal production, the monthly output of each ferronickel production line was expected to increase by approximately 800 tons.

Weda Bay Nickel Project on Halmahera Island in Indonesia would supply nickel to local ferroalloy plants for stainless steel production, with an estimated annual production capacity of 30,000 tons.
