RUSAL's bauxite, aluminum, alumina output drops in Q1
United Company RUSAL (RUSAL), a leading aluminum producer in the world, reported its aluminum sales volume of around 914,000 tons in the first quarter of this year. Besides, the output of bauxite had a quarter-on-quarter decrease of 11.2% to around 3.58 million tons; that of aluminum had a quarter-on-quarter reduction of 0.9% to roughly 940,000 tons; that of alumina had a slight quarter-on-quarter decline of 1.8% to 2.01 million tons.

Global primary aluminum demand fell by 6.4% to 14.43 million tons in the first quarter of 2020.

Due to the COVID-19 epidemic, the global aluminum market was expected to be seriously impacted in 2020. The decrease in customers’ demand for aluminum was mainly in transportation, construction, packaging industries and some end-users.

The global demand for primary aluminum was predicted to drop by 6.4% to 14.43 million tons in the first quarter of this year.
