Philippines to announce results of ban on open pit mining in Dec
It was reported that Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte planned to announce the decision of ban on open pit mining in December, and he said that open pit mining will cause a serious damage to the environment.
In 2017, the former Secretary of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Gina Lopez also issued a ban on open pit mining, and now the president considered extending the ban to 2019.
Because the government has not yet had a substantial action, it was still on a stage to await whether the ban will be implemented or not.
