Norsk Hydro conducts feasibility study on bauxite residue sustainability with UFPA
It was reported that Norsk Hydro’s Alunorte alumina refinery in Brazil signed an agreement with the Federal University of Pará (UFPA) to conduct a feasibility study of using bauxite residue to produce low-carbon cement. The project involved Norsk Hydro’s Alunorte alumina refinery in Barcarena and the bauxite mine in Paragominas.
Norsk Hydro has a goal to find sustainable technological solutions for local cement manufacturers with this project. Besides, the firm could lower its production costs through the project, as well as decrease the impact on the environment by lessening greenhouse gas emissions and protecting natural resources.
