NBS: China crude steel production rose 8.3% in 2019

SHANGHAI, Jan 17 (SMM) – China’s production of crude steel recovered last month, after three consecutive months of declines, according to data from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) released on Friday.

In December, 84.27 million mt of crude steel was produced in China, up from 80.29 million mt in November to produce an 11.6% increase from the same month a year earlier. Output averaged 2.72 million mt per day for the month, up 1.6% from November.

For the full 2019, China’s crude steel production totalled 996.34 million mt, up 8.3% from 2018.

Production of pig iron rose 5.3% year on year to 809.37 million mt, and that of steel products expanded 9.8% to 1.2 billion mt.
