Mexican steel material prices up 7.5%
According to Mexican Chamber of Construction Industry (CMIC), the prices for construction materials in Mexico rose by 7.5% compared with February, but decreased 1.1% from January.

CMIC said that prices fell in the first two months of this year due to sluggish demand and low construction activity. In addition, the slowdown in the construction industry in China and the United States has turned into oversupply, so prices have fallen.

Some of the following long products were subject to large changes in annual prices. Mexican rebar rose by 14.2% year on yeara wire and wire rod were up by 11.9% year on year, and steel mesh was up by 13.4% year on year.

According to CMIC, the international steel prices had a major rebound in February 2019, which could lead to pressure on steel prices in the rest of 2019.
