Latin America’s finished steel product imports grew 17% in the first four months of 2017
According to the Latin America Steel Association (ALACERO), the finished steel product imports in the region reached 7.7 million tons during the first four months of 2017, growth of 17% compared with the same period of last year.
Among them, the flat product imports were 4.9 million tons, accounting for 65% of total imports; the long products imports were 2.5 million tons, accounting for 33% of total imports; the seamless pipes imports were 186,000 tons, accounting for 2% of total imports.
Meanwhile, Latin America’s finished steel products exports reached 3.1 million tons, growth of 9% compared with the same period of last year.
