Japanese Godo Steel acquires 86.96% shares of Asahi Industries
It was reported that Japanese Godo Steel has completed the acquisition of 86.96% shares in Asahi Industries this week, which was one of the plans to raise up its competitiveness in the rebar market mainly.
The acquisition made Godo Steel become one of the three major suppliers of base-sized rebar in the Kanto region.
Godo Steel produced rebars at plant in Funabashi near Tokyo, and Asahi Industries produced rebar and structural steel at the plant in Saitama near Tokyo. The total annual production from these plants reached around 600,000 tons.
