Hubei defines Ultra-low Emission Target for Iron and Steel Industry

ASG News: in order to promote the high-quality development of the iron and steel industry in Hubei Province, combined with the current situation of pollutant emissions in the iron and steel industry in Hubei Province, the Hubei Provincial Department of Ecological Environment, the Provincial Development and Reform Commission and other departments recently jointly issued the "Hubei Iron and Steel Industry Ultra low Emission Reform implementation Plan" (hereinafter referred to as the "Scheme"), defining the target of ultra-low emission transformation of iron and steel.

It is understood that the new (including relocation) iron and steel projects in Hubei Province should in principle reach the ultra-low emission level. Among the existing iron and steel enterprises, iron and steel enterprises in Wuhan, Xiangyang City, Yichang City, Huangshi City, Jingzhou City and Ezhou City shall implement the atmospheric special emission limit value in accordance with the announcement on the implementation of the Special Emission limit value of Atmospheric pollutants in some key cities. The province should speed up the transformation of ultra-low emissions from existing iron and steel enterprises. By the end of 2021, Wuhan Iron and Steel Co., Ltd., Hubei Xinye Steel Co., Ltd. and other enterprises have made remarkable progress in ultra-low emission transformation; by the end of 2023, iron and steel enterprises in seven cities, such as Wuhan City and Xiangyang City, will basically complete the transformation of ultra-low emissions; iron and steel enterprises in other areas will basically complete the transformation of ultra-low emissions by the end of 2025.

The "scheme" puts forward the specific requirements for ultra-low emissions from iron and steel enterprises. It is clear that ultra-low emission in iron and steel enterprises refers to the upgrading of all production links, mainly from the aspects of organized emission, unorganized emission, material transportation, monitoring and monitoring, etc. Iron and steel enterprises are required to formulate self-monitoring programs, carry out self-monitoring, and disclose monitoring information to the public in a timely manner. We will comprehensively strengthen the construction of automatic monitoring, process monitoring and video surveillance facilities, and connect them with the ecological environment and relevant departments.
