Energy crisis leads European electrolytic aluminum output to go down
The global electrolytic aluminum was about 79.28 million tons. In 2021, European electrolytic aluminum output totaled 7.47 million tons, accounting for 11% of global output. Among them, the output from Russia accounted for 48% of total European production.
With hiking energy prices, more and more aluminum producers would cut their production in the fourth quarter. By the end of 2022, European electrolytic aluminum production, except Russia, was expected to decrease by about 1.2 million tons compared with the high output in the second quarter of last year.
On the contrary, China’s electrolytic aluminum output accounted for more than 50% of global output, and its production kept increasing from the begging of this year. However, because the global economy was in recession and demand was low, these factors made China’s outlook on electrolytic aluminum not optimistic.
