China companies plan to invest nickel plant in Indonesia
Introduced by Indonesian Minister of Industry Airlangga Hartarto, China companies will put ab investment in nickel plant, mainly for processing lithium battery components. The industry minister said that lithium batteries were applied for electric vehicles, and batteries were an important part of the power industry.

Electric vehicles development in Indonesia was still limited by imported batteries. Raw materials for lithium batteries production were nickel and cobalt, and these resources were abundant in Indonesia.

Environmental protection was the advantage of electric vehicles. Its diversification of power was more efficient in application and could reduce operating costs.

At initial stage, Sino-French investors will invest US$5 billion. China companies hoped to invest US$5 billion in the first phase of the construction of nickel plants and another US$5 billion in the second phase.
