Carbon steel medium-thick plate price bullish in US market due to tariffs
The demand for carbon steel medium-thick plate remained strong in the US and the prices were expected to climb. Some market participants stated that due to tariffs barriers, it would lead to an increased price on carbon steel medium-thick plate. Global plate demand was still strong, and manufacturers of power generation, steel mill equipment, mining equipment, and OEM equipment expected there would be a revenue growth in the future.

Besides, although current price was still stable, the possibility of price increases was growing. Then, as the market was isolated from external resources, domestic price increase has little effect on the overall market, and internal inflation was the most likely to curb demand.

Also, if Canada mills could produce medium-thick plate, it would hinder Canadian import market, and the tariff would only protect domestic steel mills.
