Aluminum prices continue to remain strong for better demand in US market
Alcoa shares in July 3rd closed at US$34.02, compared with the previous trading day the closing up rose by 4.2%. The stock rose by 16.3% in the first half of 2017. In the case of the rising aluminum prices, the performance of Alcoa shares in the first half of this year is better than the big market.
To be sure, aluminum prices were the best performing industrial metals in the 2017. Base metals rose by 13% in the first half of 2017. By comparison, copper and zinc rose by 7.6% and 7.4% in the first half of 2017, respectively.
The rise in aluminum prices has supported the performance of aluminum producers during the year. Century aluminum shares rose by 82% in the first half of 2017, becoming one of the best performing aluminum producers.
