Aluminum Association’s proposal of Trade Policy Framework for US Aluminum Industry
On April 6, the Aluminum Association issued a new policy brief, called “A Trade Policy Framework for the US Aluminum Industry." This policy was to ensure that the US aluminum industry can compete in the global market fairly.

Besides, the association also suggested the Biden administration realize the following policies:

1. Immediately reform the exclusion clauses in Section 232.
2. Carefully consider the countrywide exemption of Section 232 tariffs for the countries that commit to doing market-based trade.
3. Maintain the Section 301 tariffs on aluminum imports and the powerful trade enforcement.
4. Avoid unfair global trade activities and harmful industrial subsidies.
5. Launch a new monitoring system on aluminum imports and carefully track the trade flows.
6. Make a comprehensive policy to make sure a stable and resilient domestic aluminum production capacity in the global supply chain with a long-term investment.
