Aluminium Association of India calls for increase in import tariffs on aluminum scrap to 10%
In recent days, Aluminium Association of India (AAI), which represented India's primary aluminum producers, has repeatedly asked the government to raise the import tariff on aluminum scrap from the current 2.5% to 10% in fiscal year 2020-2021, in an effort to improve the cost structure and competitiveness of the aluminum industry and encourage recycling by local companies.

AAI also asked the government to reduce the raw materials used to produce aluminum, including aluminum fluoride, caustic soda and green anode/prebaked carbon.

It was reported that waste aluminum accounted for 58% of total aluminum imports in fiscal year 2019.
