ALACERO: Crude steel production in Latin America falls by 8% in Nov 2019
According to the Latin American Steel Association (ALACERO), the production of crude steel in Latin America fell by 8% in November 2019, reaching around 4.83 million tons. The fall was mainly affected by lower production in Mexico, the slowdown in developed countries and the stagnation of the economy in the region, according to ALACERO.

Crude steel production in Mexico stood at 1.42 million tons during the month, a fall of 8% compared to the same period of the previous year and the figure represented a huge drop of 58% compared to the average of the first 10 months of 2019, a worse indicator since March 2016, according to ALACERO.

Crude steel production in the world was 147.8 million tons in November, which meant a 1% drop compared to the same period last year, according to figures from the World Steel Association.
